Symptoms

You use a mixed-case password in an application to connect to an IBM host system in a Microsoft Host Integration Server 2010 environment. When you try to connect by using one of the following Host File Providers, the log on try may fail:

  • Managed Data Provider for Host Files

  • OLE DB Provider for AS/400 and VSAM

Cause

This issue occurs because the Host File Provider incorrectly changes mixed-case passwords into uppercase passwords before the Host File Provider sends the password to the IBM host system.
