Introduction
This article introduces a cumulative update that can improve the performance of the Metadata Discovery process in Microsoft SQL Server Native Client for Microsoft SQL Server 2012.
Notes:

The data access client uses the system stored procedure Sp_describe_first_result_set to retrieve the metadata for the client application. This stored procedure may cause small performance issues in SQL Server 2012. This cumulative update can resolve this issue.

The performance improvement is more significant in small Transact-SQL batches that can complete execution in a few seconds.
