Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012-based computer that has the .NET framework 4.5 and update 2840632 installed.

  • You run the Cluster-Aware Updating (CAU) configuration wizard for a Windows Server 2012-based failover cluster on the computer.

  • You remove a CAU role, you enable or disable self-updating mode, and then you submit the changes.

In this scenario, the changes are not applied to CAU.

Cause

This issue occurs because the CAU configuration wizard cannot change a property after update 2840632 is installed.

Workaround

To work around this issue, use the following CAU cmdlets to configure CAU clustered roles:

  • Set-CauClusterRole

  • Enable-CauClusterRole

  • Disable-CauClusterrole
