Symptoms

When you run some queries against the sys.dm_server_memory_dumps system dynamic management view in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2, an access violation may occur. When this issue occurs, you receive a "Non-yielding Scheduler" error message. 

Note: When this issue occurs, an access violation dump file or a Non-Yielding scheduler dump file may be generated in hours or days after you first access the system dynamic management view. Additionally, the following error message is logged in the SQL Server error log:
