Symptoms
On a server that is running Windows Server 2012 R2, you view the Storage Reports Management node of the File Server Resource Manager (FSRM) snap-in in Microsoft Management Console (MMC). When the number of storage reports to monitor is sufficiently large, a CPU spike can occur on the server and performance significantly degrades.
Cause
By default, the FSRM MMC snap-in File Reports status is refreshed every minute. This is designed for only a few reports. Generating lots of reports may cause the FSRM UI to stop responding.
Resolution
To resolve this problem, apply this hotfix to the computer that is running Microsoft Management Console.
Hotfix information
A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft Support. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing the problem described in this article. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.

Prerequisites
To apply this update, you must first have update 2919355 installed on Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2012 R2.
Registry information
After you apply this hotfix, you can configure the following registry value to control the time interval of between each FSRM MMC snap-in File Reports status refresh:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\SrmReports\FsrmGuiRefreshIntervalInMilliseconds
Set this subkey to a significantly large value in milliseconds as per your requirements. If this registry value is greater than or equal to 0x7fffffff, the File Reports status refresh is disabled completely.
Restart requirement
You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.
