INTRODUCTION

December 2016 update for Dynamics 365 (online and on premises) is now available. As part of this update, the product name changes from Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016 to Microsoft Dynamics 365.This article describes the updates and changes that are included in this update.This update is available for all languages that are supported by Dynamics 365.To see all the new features in this release, go to the following Microsoft Dynamics CRM Customer Center websites:

Windows Update installationUse Windows Update to automatically install December 2016 update for Dynamics 365 (on premises). This must be installed on a server running Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016 (version 8.0) or later. This update will be available through Windows Update in Q1 of 2017. For more information, see: Upgrade a Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2016 ServerYou can configure Windows to automatically install recommended updates. This setting addresses noncritical problems and helps improve your computing experience. Turn automatic updating on or off Change how Windows installs or notifies you about updates To install December 2016 Update for Dynamics 365 (on premises) by using Windows Update, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, and then type Update in the Start Search box.

  2. In the list of results, click Windows Update.

  3. In the navigation pane, click Check for updates, and then wait while Windows checks for the latest updates for your computer.

  4. If you receive a message that states that important updates are available or that prompts you to review important updates, select the check boxes for any updates that you want to install, and then click OK. Note Click any update for more information.

  5. Click Install updates.

  6. Read and accept the license terms, and then click Finish (if the update requires this action). If you are prompted to enter an administrator password, type the password. Confirm that you accept the terms if you are prompted to do this.

Manual installationTo manually install December 2016 Update for Dynamics 365 (on premises), follow these steps.

  1. Go to the following Microsoft Update Catalog website:

  2. In the Search box, type 3205084, and then click Search.

  3. Click Add to add the update to the basket.

  4. Click Download.

  5. Click Browse, specify the folder to which you want to download the update, and then click OK.

  6. Click Continue, and then click I Accept to accept the Microsoft Software License Terms.

  7. When the update is downloaded to the location that you specified, click Close.

Additional installation information

  • After you install this update, exit any existing Microsoft Dynamics CRM sessions, and then start a new Microsoft Dynamics CRM session.

  • When you deprovision a language pack, the language settings of all Microsoft Dynamics CRM users who are using that language will revert to the default language settings. The reprovisioning process does not update the language settings of users. Therefore, users must reset their language settings in the personal options section when they log on to Microsoft Dynamics 365.

Restart requirementIf you are prompted to restart the computer, do this after you apply the update.

Removal informationDecember 2016 Update for Dynamics 365 cannot be uninstalled from the Microsoft Dynamics 365 server to roll back the program to the previous version.

December 2016 Update for Dynamics 365 (online and on premises) resolves the following issues:

  • Groups do not stay highlighted when selected.

  • Focus is lost in an Upload Data File while using the Import Wizard.

  • A failure occurs when using ribbon rules.

  • Unable to create a Lead with an Estimated Budget.

  • CRM App for Outlook fails to load and a generic error occurs when missing the System Application Metadata privileges.

  • The error "Error installing sp with name=p_DeleteSingleAuditPartition Online index operations can only be performed in Enterprise edition of SQL Server." occurs when installing Dynamics 365 on a SQL Standard installation.

  • An Out of Memory message stating "Array dimensions exceeded supported range." occurs on the Async server.

  • A Null Exception occurs when sending DataPublishing success complete messages in the DataPublisingEntityProcessor.

  • A 500 Internal Server error occurs when using an existing subscription on the Data Sync Framework.

  • Using Category Search the "+" buttons to add new record no longer work.

  • Importing of a custom Solution with the default Activity Feed plugin included should not be allowed.

  • Configuration database access can result in an incorrectly initialized Sandbox Host Manager which causes plugins to fail.

  • A Retrieve Multiple plugin can fail when ran during a large Duplicate Detection Job.

  • Navpropname is not available during $expand after a Solution upgrade.

  • When using Interactive Service Hub an error occurs when attempting to create a Contact from the Account Main Form.

  • Unable to see a custom Entity in the "To:" Field multi party lookup in the Email Form.

  • Unable to create a new Main-Interactive Experience Form.

  • Learning Path sidebars do not pop open on every page load.

  • After creating Custom Controls, a user with a custom Security Role is no longer able to use the CRM for mobile app.

  • The keyboard that appears on the device will cover the Lookup Field when the Lookup Field is selected while using the CRM for mobile app on an iOS device.

  • A User's Team is not being evaluated in a View query properly because the data does not show up in the Team View on CRM for Mobile app.

  • Performance issues when querying the Opportunity Product entity that are caused by the Modified On Field.

  • Access Teams are no longer active on an entity after upgrading.

  • Dynamic Help added for Server Side Synchronization.

  • Mailbox for unlocked is enabled for all organizations.

  • Appointment Recipients do not receive invitations.

  • Asynchronous Service for Server Side Synchronization uses more threads than it should which can cause performance issues.

  • When using Server Side Synchronization, Tasks will duplicate in CRM when a user is assigned the Sync to Outlook privilege through a Team rather than directly through their security role.

  • Asynchronous Service crashes if a Data column contains more than 100MB of uncompressed data.

  • If EWS throws ServiceResponseException, mailboxes will get stuck when using Appointment, Contact, and Task syncing with Server Side Sync.

  • Unified Service Desk displays a Security error and then closes.

  • Using the new Form Rendering Engine, Xrm.Page.ui.getFormType() is returning the wrong value for a Read Only Form.

  • When AutoSave is triggered while in email context the Editing is blocked.

  • Grid View check marks are not readable by screen reader.

  • German and Turkish orgs in Android 7 Phone: For Exchange cards, the Open Email operation does not open the exact email message in the browser. Instead, the message "The attachment couldn't be opened" appears.

  • Nearby customers are not populated in the German language.

  • Need to hide the Feedback icon for non-English users.

  • Dates are not localized in cards when you use the Dynamics CRM mobile app.

  • Correct Relevant News does not function for non-English organizations.

  • On the Email Management tab, the links are redirected to the English language instead of Japanese when you select Learn More, Here, or More Information even though the language used in the organization is Japanese.

December 2016 Update for Dynamics 365 (online and on premises) contains updates that you must configure manually. These include the Portal, Field Service, and Project Service products. These require the customer to install the solution from the Office 365 portal.
