Symptoms

"Run-time error '-2147217887 (80040e21)" This error is received after an upgrade has been performed and the company is trying to be set as Default. The full error message received is: Run-time error '-2147217887 (80040e21)':The changes you requested to the table were not successful because they would create duplicate values in the index, primary key, or relationship.

Resolution

This error is typically a sign of damage to the specification set.  To correct this error, follow these steps:

  1. Click Company and then click Specification Set.

  2. Select the Specification Set from which you want to export the report.

  3. Click Export.

  4. In the Export Selection dialog box, click the Catalogs and select all. Click the tabs for Rows, Columns, and Trees and select all for each tab.

  5. Click Export.

  6. In the Create Export File dialog box, select the drive, folder and file name where you want to export to. The file must be saved with a .TDB (temporary database) extension.

  7. Click OK.

  8. To import the reports, click Company and then click Specification Set.

  9. Click New to create a new Specification Set.

  10. In the Locationbox, leave the default location or select the drive, path, and file name for the specification set.

  11. Click Import.

  12. In the Select Import File dialog box, select the drive, folder and file name where the *.TDB file was saved.

  13. Click OK.

  14. Click Company and then click Information.  Assign the new specification set to the company record.
