Introduction

This article discusses how to customize the options on the Persona menu when you right-click a contact in an e-mail message.

To disable the whole menu or to customize the options on the menu, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, and then clickRun,

  2. Type regedit, and then clickOK.

  3. In the navigation pane, locate and then click either of the following registry subkeys:

    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common

    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common

    Note You can use either of these registry paths to configure the registry values that are listed in this article. You do not have to configure the registry data under each registry path.

  4. On the Edit menu, point toNew, and then click Key.

  5. In the New Key # 1 box, typePersonaMenu, and then press ENTER.

    • To disable a large group of the menu items, follow these steps:

      1. On the Edit menu, point toNew, and then click DWORD Value.

      2. In the New Value # 1 box, type Enabled, and then press ENTER.

      3. On the Edit menu, clickModify.

      4. In the Value data box, type 0, and then click OK.

      This registry setting disables only the following items on the menu:

      • CallUserName

      • Add to Instant Messaging Contacts

      • Reply with Instant Message

      • Reply All with Instant Message

      • Tag for Presence Alerts

    • To customize specific options on the menu, follow these steps:

      1. On the Edit menu, point toNew, and then click DWORD Value.

      2. In the New Value # 1 box, type the string specified under the "Registry entry name" column in the following table, and then press ENTER.

      3. On the Edit menu, clickModify.

      4. In the Value data box, type the appropriate value from the table, and then click OK.Note 0 means to hide the option. 1 means to show the option. Unless the value is specified otherwise, the default setting for the item is to show the item.

      The previous table also has a column of information specifying whether the setting can be deployed by using Group Policy. If you want to configure these settings by using Group Policy, add the Office12.adm template to the Local Group Policy Editor. The policy settings are listed under the Instant Messaging Integration node of the policy tree.

  6. Exit Registry Editor.
