Applies ToMicrosoft Edge Windows 10 Windows 8 Windows 8.1

To help protect your privacy, the new Microsoft Edge  sets tracking prevention to balanced by default. For increased protection, you can switch your tracking prevention to strict or block all third-party cookies. Sometimes, these privacy protections might cause parts of sites to not work correctly.

Depending on your privacy settings and the content you interact with, you might see the following prompt when you visit a site, asking if you want to allow another site to access cookies and site data:

If you allow this access, the content will work correctly. Otherwise the content will continue to be blocked by your privacy settings.

If allowed, the requesting site can access its own cookies and site data while on the site you were visiting when you the prompt appeared. This allowance will be granted for 30 days from the time you first allowed it. After 30 days that allowance will automatically expire.

These temporary allowances may allow requesting sites to track your activity across the web. You can remove these allowances at any time by going to Settings and more > Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Cookies and data stored, or by selecting “Site permissions” when you clear browsing data. Any cookies and site data stored by sites with such allowances are stored locally on your device and can be managed by selecting Manage and delete cookies and site data after you clear browsing data.
