Some software products function incorrectly in Windows

Symptoms

When you have software products installed that use the PsSetLoadImageNotifyRoutine API more than seven times in Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 7, or Windows Server 2008 R2, some products cannot register for notifications and do not function correctly.

Cause

This issue occurs because the operating system has a limit of eight registrations. One is used by the operating system, leaving seven for other software products.

Resolution

To resolve this issue in Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2, install update 2919355.
To resolve this issue in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, install the hotfix that is described in this article.

Note This fix increases the limit to 64 registrations.
