Symptoms
Every time that the network name information is updated on a Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2-based computer, optional event ID 1012 is logged in Event Viewer. Therefore, too many events that have ID 1012 are generated. The expected behavior is for the event to be logged only when a network name is added or removed.
Resolution
