Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You use the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC) on a computer that runs Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows 8, Windows Server 2012, or a later version to manage a domain.

  • You have a Riverbed Steelhead WAN Optimizer in the network that has the Active Directory Integrated mode enabled.

  • In the GPMC console, you click the target domain.

In this situation, the GPMC console crashes.

Resolution

To resolve this issue in Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2, install update 2919355.To resolve this issue in Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012, install the hotfix that is described in this article.

A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem.
