Symptoms

You install Service Pack 1 for Microsoft SQL Server 2014. When you start SQL Server Reporting Services Report Builder, you may receive the following error message:

Cannot Start ApplicationApplication validation did not succeedSystem.Deployment.Application.InvalidDeploymentException (HashValidation)- File, Microsoft.ReportingServices.DataExtensions.dll, has a different computed hash than specified in manifest.

Cause

This issue occurs because the file version of Microsoft.ReportingServices.DataExtensions.dll and Microsoft.ReportingServices.DataRendering.dll were not updated to the latest version number during the installation of SQL Server 2014 Service Pack 1.

Resolution

This problem was first fixed in the following cumulative update for SQL Server 2014:
