The Phone Link supports messages sent by Short Message Service (SMS). It also supports Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) messaging. You can still send your favorite photos and GIFs from your PC.
Check the recent sign-in activity for your Microsoft account
If you get an email about unusual activity on your Microsoft account, or if you’re worried that someone else might have used your account, go to the Recent activity page.You’ll see when your Microsoft account was signed in during the last 30 days, along with any device or app-specific info.

Set up an authenticator app as a two-step verification method
Note: If you receive a prompt asking whether to allow the app to access your camera (iOS) or to allow the app to take pictures and record video (Android). select Allow so the authenticator app can access your camera to take a picture of the QR code in the next step.If you don't allow the camera, you can still set up the authenticator app as described in Manually add an account to the app.

Try using another verification method connected to your account. For example, if you are using SMS to verify yourself and are hitting a block, try using an alternate email that is connected to the account to receive your authorization code.

Set up SMS sign-in as a phone verification method - Microsoft Support
If you're an administrator, you can find more information in Configure and enable users for SMS-based authentication. If your organization hasn't made SMS sign-in available, you won't see an option for it when registering a phone with your account.
