Learn how to download, install, and configure additional language packs for your version of Windows.

When you complete these actions, the proofing tools automatically detect your language. You don't need to complete these procedures in order, but we recommend it. You need to add a language pack for any languages you want used for spelling and grammar checks.

Sign in to your Outlook.com account to change the display language. Microsoft.com is available in a variety of countries/regions. Choose your language preference. Set the region, device language, and spoken language for your products and services.

After you enable the keyboard layout for two or more languages in the Windows operating system, you can use the Language bar to switch between languages that use different keyboard layouts.

In any Microsoft 365 application, go to File > Options > Language. Under Office display language, make sure the display language you want to use is listed. Under Office authoring languages and proofing, make sure the language you want to use for authoring your document is listed.

Display language is for all the buttons, menus, and controls in Office. You can set the display and editing or authoring languages independently from each other. For example, you may want the display language to be English, but the document you're writing or editing is in French.

Install the language accessory pack for your desired language. Open any Office program, click File > Options > Language. Under Choose Editing Languages, make sure the language you want to use is added to the list. Under Choose Display and Help languages, change the default display and help languages for all Office apps.

Within Windows 10 and Windows 11 settings, you can install different language packs to translate and read content aloud in different languages. To install a new language, Open the Language or region settings. Open settings. Select Add a language. Search for a language in the search bar or choose one from the list.

At the top corner of your screen, select Settings to open the Settings pane, then select Change your language. Under Display Language, select the pencil icon, then select your language from the list. If you want, make changes to the time zone and time displays as well.
