On your PC, in the Phone Link, select Messages. To start a new conversation, select New message. Enter the name or phone number of a contact. Select the person you want to send a message to. A new message thread opens for you to begin with.

For voice chats, press the View button while you have a headset connected to record your message. When you’re happy with your message, select Send message. Messages that you receive from friends, and other people whom you’ve exchanged messages with, will appear among your chats.

In the Lync main window, in your Contacts list, right-click the group name. Click Send an Instant Message. In the message input area, type a message, and then press Enter. The message will be sent to everyone in the group.
