You can import email messages and account information from Outlook Express into Microsoft Outlook. In Outlook Express, each mail folder corresponds to a single file.

When you switch between identities, Outlook Express may stop responding (hang). During subsequent attempts to restart Outlook Express, Outlook Express hangs, resulting in a busy cursor (an hourglass).

Find the information you need to import to or exporting from Outlook, whether you're using Office 365, Outlook 2016, or a Mac.

Use these steps to access your e-mail account properties: Start Outlook Express. On the Tools menu, click Accounts. On the Mail tab, click your existing e-mail account, and then click Properties. You can now change the existing account properties to reflect your new account information.

If you try to import data into Outlook Express, there is no option to import a single .dbx message file. Outlook Express provides the option to import messages only from an Outlook Express identity or store folder.

If Outlook Express does not work correctly after you import one of the .reg files, that identity is the identity that is causing the problem. You must delete the identity, and then re-create it.
