Fixes a problem that occurs during data retrieval from an instance of SSRS 2008 R2, SSRS 2012, or SSRS 2014 on another computer.

In this scenario, the Remote Registry service crashes on the computer that has SQL Server installed. Additionally, error messages that resemble the following are logged in the Application log on the computer that has the instance of SQL Server installed:

Assume that you query performance counters on a remote computer by using an application on a computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2. In this situation, the memory usage of the Remote Registry service on the local computer increases until the available memory is exhausted.

Fixes an issue in which you cannot query performance counters by using the Remote Registry service and an application when you do not have the appropriate permissions.

To fix this issue, install the May 2019 cumulative update 6.0.9319.548 for Skype for Business Server 2015, core components. For Edge and Front End servers, make sure that remote registry service isn't disabled. If it's disabled, enable it, set it to automatic, and apply the updates.

To apply this hotfix, you must be running Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012. To use the hotfix in this package, you do not have to make any changes to the registry. You must restart the computer after you apply this hotfix. This hotfix does not replace a previously released hotfix.

In that update, DCOM hardening was disabled by default. You can enable them by modifying the registry as described in the “Registry setting to enable or disable the hardening changes” section below. The second phase of DCOM updates was released on June 14, 2022.

In Device Manager, within the details of the Microsoft Failover Cluster Virtual Network driver, you will see the following as part of the status: Windows is still setting up the class configuration for this device. Code 56.

To resolve this issue, install this hotfix on the affected computer that is running Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2. Note You can also resolve this issue by installing hotfix 2646563. Hotfix 2646563 includes this hotfix. A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft.
