To work around this issue: From the Start menu, select Settings. Choose Time & Language. Select Region & language. Click Add a language. Select English, and then English (United States). Click on Chinese (Traditional, Taiwan), and then select Remove. Select Add a language.

In Office for Mac you can easily enable East Asian languages so that you can create files in Chinese or Japanese.

To add the East Asian fonts, you need to install the East Asian language. Installing the East Asian language does not necessarily change the default language you use with Windows; it simply adds the East Asian language as an additional language and downloads the related fonts.

Install the language accessory pack for your desired language. Open any Office program, click File > Options > Language. Under Choose Editing Languages, make sure the language you want to use is added to the list. Under Choose Display and Help languages, change the default display and help languages for all Office apps.
