Symptoms
This hotfix adds a new Microsoft Outlook 2010 feature that provides better security for items that are permanently deleted. This hotfix allows Outlook 2010 to overwrite deleted data while Outlook 2010 is running, instead of only when you close Outlook 2010.
Cause
This feature is added for users that require a secure delete feature that can be used while Outlook 2010 is running.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, apply the following hotfix:

Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.

Locate and then select the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Outlook\PST\

On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.

Type PSTNullFreeOnDelete, and then press ENTER.

In the details pane, right-click PSTNullFreeOnDelete, and then click Modify.

In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.

Exit Registry Editor.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
