Use text messages notifications

With Teams Premium and Virtual Appointments, you can send your customers confirmation and reminder SMS text messages to make sure they have their appointment information and have a simple way to join an appointment no matter where they are.

Important: SMS text notifications in Virtual Appointments requires a Teams Premium license. See Microsoft Teams Premium - Overview for administrators for more information.

Turn on SMS text messages in appointments

For customers to receive text messages when they schedule appointments, you need to turn it on in each appointment type that you’ve created. To do this, toggle on Send them text messages.

Next, when you’re scheduling a New booking, make sure the toggle is set to send text messages and check the consent box to confirm the attendee has opted in to receiving text message notifications.

  • Choosing Have attendees to join from a web browser will let attendees join an appointment without downloading the Teams app.

  • After an appointment is scheduled, they’ll receive a confirmation text message with details of their appointment. Standard text message rates will apply.

  • Selecting the link lets them join the Teams meeting right in their mobile browser without downloading the Teams app.
