Customize your chat view in Microsoft Teams Free. Filtering your chats can keep your conversations organized, easy to find, and up to date.
Choose how your chat view
There are several different ways to filter your chats to help focus on what needs your attention.
Under Chat, your conversations are organized into:
- Favorites- Conversations marked as Favorite.
- Chats- Conversations sorted by most recent activity, or by filters.
Favorites view
To view a chat in the Favorites view, you first need to mark it as Favorite.
In the Chat tab, tap and hold your chat and tap Favorite.
Choose your chat filter
If you want a different view of your conversations, you can filter your chats.
In Microsoft Teams Free, go to Chat.
In the corner of the screen, tap Filter chat filters.
Choose a filter:
Unread – shows only unread messages.
Unmuted – shows chats where notifications are turned on.
You can also go to the the Chat tab where you can tap More options next to your chat to mute, hide, or mark as unread.
Sort your chats
Tap Sort by.
Choose between:
- Recent- sorted by most recently active messages.
- Sections- organizes your messages by your Favorites and remaining Chats.
To remove a chat filter
In Chats, you can see what filters you have selected.
Tap X next to the filter you want to remove.
Search in Chat
Use Search to find messages by person name or keywords. This helps you quickly return to important conversations.
