On This PageSYMPTOMSWhen you use a smart card reader with a computer that is running Microsoft Windows XP, a delay may occur before the logon text changes from "Press Ctrl-Alt-Delete to begin" to "Insert card or press Ctrl-Alt-Delete to begin." CAUSEThis problem may occur because the Smart Card service (SCardSvr.exe) does not start until many other services have started. These other services may include a wireless network service or an antivirus service. RESOLUTIONService pack informationTo resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows XP.
