SYMPTOMS

When you try to visit a Web page that is hosted on Internet Information Services 7.0, you may receive the following error message:
Server Error in Application " application name "
HTTP Error 403.17 (Forbidden) - The client certificate has expired
HRESULT: 0x800b0101
Description of HRESULT: Your client certificate has expired or is not yet valid.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the client browser tries to use a client certificate that has expired or is not yet valid.

RESOLUTION

On the client computer, install a new client certificate that has not expired or is already valid.
