Directory Replication: Can't Remove Directories

When you remove imported or exported directories from the Directory Replication dialog box (from the Server portion of Control Panel), they do not stay removed. The directories continue to be replicated.

The Replicator service builds its list of managed directories by adding any directories it finds in the root replication directory each time it starts. Because of this, if the directory you wish to remove remains in the root replication directory, it continues to be replicated. You can even add directories to be replicated by simply placing them in the root replication directory.

To remove unwanted directories from the managed directories list, use the following procedure:

1. Stop the Replicator service by typing the following from Command Prompt:
   net stop replicator
2. Delete or move the directory from it's current location.
3. Restart the Replicator service:
   net start replicator

NOTE: If you need to maintain the location of directories you do not want to be replicated, you can change the base location that the Replicator service points to. To do this, change the From List or To Path field to the new location. When you choose OK, the Replicator service restarts and rebuilds its list of managed directories.
