To create a shortcut on your desktop for a new Outlook Express e-mail message, use the following steps:

Right-click the desktop, click New, and then click Shortcut.
In the Command Line box, type mailto:, and then click Next.
In the "Select a name for the shortcut" box, type a descriptive name for the shortcut, and then click Finish.

NOTE: Outlook Express is not started when you use this shortcut to open a new e-mail message. When you finish composing the e-mail message and then click Send, the message is sent based on the settings you configure in Outlook Express.
