The computer name of a Windows 2000 domain controller cannot be changed for this release of Windows 2000.

It is possible to change the computer name of a server. If you want to change the name of a domain controller, change the name before running DCPromo.

If you want the DNS domain name to be different from the DNS domain name of which the domain controller is a member, change the name before you begin the promotion process using DCPromo.
