SUMMARY
Microsoft has released three generations of object models for providing
extensions to messaging functionality in advanced messaging environments.
These models, from oldest to most current, are OLE Messaging, Active
Messaging, and Collaboration Data Objects (CDO).

Object models, such as those listed in the Summary section of this article,
consist of code support libraries for developing custom messaging
applications and solutions with Visual Basic or Visual Basic Scripting
Edition (VBScript) code. These products are available from various sources
depending on the generation. NOTE: Outlook must be installed using the Corporate or Workgroup installation option, and it must be set in Microsoft Internet Explorer as the default e-mail application. To do this:
