A Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2.0 site no longer functions after you change either the name of the domain or the name of the computer on which the site was installed. After you change the existing domain name to a new domain name, or change the site server's computer name to a new computer name, the SMS services do not start as expected.
Microsoft does not support the practice of changing the computer name after a site server has been installed. WORKAROUNDYou can change the domain to which the server is installed in SMS 2.0. Note There is no support for changing the domain in SMS 2003. For additional information about how to move an SMS 2.0 site server to a new domain, please see the "Moving SMS Servers Between Domains" white paper.
