You may experience one or more of the following issues with Hotmail, which is included with Outlook Express 5 and later:
The Server Does Not Support Manual Deletion of MessagesHotmail periodically deletes messages from the Deleted Items folder and does not require you to manually delete your messages.
Two Inboxes Are DisplayedWhen you create a Hotmail account, it creates a separate Inbox for the Hotmail account.
You Cannot Create Rules or FiltersOutlook Express does not support rules or filters for Hotmail accounts.
Contacts May Not Be Updated When Synchronizing Address Book with HotmailThe address book is synchronizing with non-Latin-based character sets.
Hotmail Messages Do Not Have Entire Date or TimeOutlook Express is not able to provide entire date, time, and time zone information.

Two Inboxes Are DisplayedOutlook Express can use and display multiple e-mail accounts. The Inbox in the Local folder is associated with Post Office Protocol (POP3) accounts from your Internet service provider (ISP). The Inbox in the Hotmail account is strictly for Hotmail accounts.
You Cannot Create Rules or FiltersYou can use your Hotmail account to create filters. For information about creating filters for a Hotmail account, please contact Hotmail Technical Support.
