Cannot Quit Norton Anti-Virus Deluxe 4.0 Rescue Disk Tool

SYMPTOMS

When you upgrade your Microsoft Windows 98-based computer to Windows 2000, you must first uninstall Norton Anti-virus Deluxe 4.0 to perform a successful installation. If you ignore warnings related to Norton Anti-virus and continue Windows 2000 Setup, the Rescue Disk tool is running and cannot be quit because the OK button is missing and the Close button is unavailable.

CAUSE

This issue can occur because Norton Anti-virus Deluxe 4.0 is not totally compatible with Windows 2000 Setup.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, contact Symantec to inquire about the availability of a fix for this issue.

To work around this issue, uninstall Norton Anti-virus Deluxe 4.0 before upgrading to Windows 2000.
