Computer Stops Responding When You Change Screen Resolution While Playing a DVD Movie

SYMPTOMS

When you change the screen resolution on your Windows 2000-based computer while playing a DVD movie, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:
  • Your video screen may turn black.
  • The movie progress counter may clear and restart, but you may still be unable to see the movie.
  • Your computer may stop responding (hang).

CAUSE

This issue can occur because graphics-intensive programs can become unstable if you change screen resolution while they are running.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, do not change the screen resolution on your Windows 2000-based computer while playing a DVD movie.

To work around this issue, quit the DVD viewer program, and then start it again.
