No Monitor Output in VGA Mode with Creative 3D Blaster Banshee Video Card

SYMPTOMS

After you configure your computer that has a Creative 3D Blaster Banshee video card installed to use a VGA driver in 800 X 600 resolution, you may not receive any output on your monitor.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs if the following conditions exist:

  • The video adapter is a Creative 3D Blaster Banshee video card
  • There is a VGA driver is installed on the computer
  • The screen resolution is set to 800 x 600
  • The refresh rate is set to "Default Hardware"

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, set the resolution to 640 x 480 x 16 until you can install the video drivers provided by the manufacturer.
