Multiple Unpartitioned Spaces Displayed During Windows 2000 Setup

During the text portion of Windows 2000 Setup, multiple unpartitioned spaces may appear on a single hard disk. When this occurs, it may appear that it is not possible to use all the available unpartitioned space on the disk in a single partition, and you may be unable to delete the extra unpartitioned spaces.

This behavior can occur if you have deleted a logical drive from an extended partition, and have not yet removed the extended partition.

To work around this issue:

1. On the drive containing the multiple unpartitioned spaces, select the unpartitioned space (starting with the last entry first), and then press C to create a new partition.
2. Select the new partition, and then press D to delete the partition that you just created.
   
   If more than one extra unpartitioned space exists on the drive, repeat these steps until the unpartitioned space is combined into one segment.

This behavior is by design.
