Offline File Synchronization Does Not Distinguish Between Different LANs

When you are using client-side caching and attempting to synchronize offline data, you may receive the following error message: The following error messages may appear on the Results tab:

The offline file synchronization (or more specifically, Synchronization Manager) does not differentiate between LAN connections in Windows 2000.

To work around this issue, use either of the following methods:

• Click Skip to skip any items for synchronization that are not available from the current network connection.
• In Windows Explorer, click Synchronize on the Tools menu, and then click to clear the check boxes for items that are not available when you synchronize from the current network connection

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Offline File Synchronization Setup displays only one LAN connection even if multiple LAN connections are available and the name of the LAN connection is "LAN Connection." As a result, offline file synchronization cannot be configured or performed separately for each LAN connection.
