SYMPTOMS

When you are using Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) and you try to connect to another user who is using NetMeeting 3.01, program sharing or the Whiteboard tool may not work when started from the computer using the ICS connection.

Most of the time, the chat or Whiteboard does not start on the other computer. If it does, quitting either connection and trying to restart does not work.

CAUSE

NetMeeting is not completely compatible with ICS.

RESOLUTION

Disable ICS to allow full NetMeeting functionality to work with direct connection to the Internet or to your ISP.

APPLIES TO
  • Microsoft NetMeeting 3.01 Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition
