XADM: Exchange 2000 Services Run Under LocalSystem
When you install Exchange 2000, you are prompted to enter service account information, similar to the Exchange Server 5.5 Setup routine.
MORE INFORMATION
The service account information supplied during Exchange 2000 Setup is used for communication with Exchange Server 5.5 computers. You are prompted for an Exchange Server 5.5 service account only when you join a site or an administrative group that contains an Exchange Server 5.5 computer or when you join a site that previously contained an Exchange Server 5.5 computer that has not been fully removed from the directory service.
