Cannot Move Programs Between Multiple Monitors

SYMPTOMS

When you try to move a program between multiple monitors on a computer using the multiple monitor functionality, you may not be able to move or reposition some programs.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the program is maximized or running in full-screen mode.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, resize the program window or use a non-maximized setting.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

Some programs cannot use the multiple monitor functionality. For example:
  • MS-DOS based programs that only run in full-screen mode.
  • Some games that only run in full-screen mode.
  • Windows NT Terminal Server client running in full-screen mode.
These examples can run only on the primary monitor.
