This article lists services that must be run on a Local System account.

Although the user interface in the Services MMC snap-in allows you to change the Log on properties for a service to an account other than the Local System account, certain services you should only run on the Local System account.

The following services must be run on a Local System account:
  • DNS Server service
  • DHCP Server service

Microsoft does not support configuring these services to any account other than the Local System account.
