SYMPTOMS

When you install Microsoft Office 2000, Service Release 1 (SR-1), the following error message appears:
Mapi Repair Tool
LoadLibrary: GetLastError = 126
When you click OK, the Setup program completes successfully.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you do the following:

  • You remove Microsoft Office 2000 or Microsoft Office 2000, Service Release 1 (SR-1).
  • You run the Office 2000 File and Registry Eraser Utility, version 2.0.
  • You install Microsoft Office 2000, Service Release 1 (SR-1).

RESOLUTION

This problem was corrected in the Office 2000 File and Registry Eraser Utility version 2.1.

To check your specific version of the Office 2000 File and Registry Eraser Utility, do the following:
  1. Use Microsoft Windows Explorer to locate the Eraser2000.exe file.
  2. Right-click Eraser2000.exe. On the shortcut menu that appears, click Properties. Click the Version tab.
