ICS Troubleshooter Gives Incorrect Instructions for Opening Icslog.txt

SYMPTOMS

When you are following the instructions for the Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) troubleshooter in Windows Millennium Edition (Me) to open the Icslog.txt file, you receive the following message:

Windows cannot find 'c:\icslog.txt'. You may have typed the name incorrectly in the Run dialog, or another open program cannot find a system file. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.

CAUSE

The Icslog.txt file resides in the drive and directory that Windows is installed in, normally C:\Windows.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use one of the following methods:

Click Start, click Run, type icslog.txt, and then click OK.

-or-
Use the Search feature to find the file and then double-click it in the Search Results window.

-or-
Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and click Windows Explorer. Browse to the Windows folder, and then double-click the Icslog.txt file to open it.
