Description of the Microsoft Windows Registry
SYMPTOMS
After you use GhostWalker to deploy Windows NT Workstation, and you change the computer's security ID (SID), you may receive the following prompt every time you log on to a Web site where user information is stored (such as Microsoft Hotmail):
Protected Storage uses your Windows password to protect your personal data.
Protected Storage has detected data created with a previous version. To continue to use this data, enter your Windows password below. CAUSE
This behavior occurs because the Access Control lists (ACLs) on certain registry entries and files may not be reset by GhostWalker.
WORKAROUNDWARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may
require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve
problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own
