SUMMARY

The informational letter that accompanies the Microsoft Office 2000 SR-1a Update CD includes incorrect disk space requirements for the SR-1a update.

The original informational letter has since been updated to include more accurate information. The following paragraph replaced the original, incorrect one:
"Make sure that you have 250 megabytes (MB) of hard-disk space available before beginning the installation. (However, when fully installed, SR-1 will consume between 27 - 40 MB of additional disk space)."

The following text is contained in the original informational letter that accompanied the SR-1a update CD: 
   To install the patch, please follow the instructions below:
      1. Make sure that you have 250 megabytes (MB) of hard-disk space
         available before beginning the installation. (However, when fully             
         installed, SR-1 will use less than 3 MB of additional disk space             
         because the patch replaces existing files).
The Office 2000 SR-1a Update will use more than 3 MB of additional disk space. The following table shows the amount of additional disk space required by the SR-1a update:

   Premium CD1                        30 MB
   Premium CD1 and CD2                47 MB
The extra disk space is taken up mostly by the Windows Installer patch files (.msp) that are stored in the \Windows\Installer folder. The following table shows the disk space required for the .msp files on CD1 and CD2: 
   Office disc      Approximate .msp size
   -------------------------------------------

   CD1                     27 MB
   CD2                     14 MB
NOTE: Do not remove the .msp files from the \Windows\Installer folder. The Windows Installer uses these files when you add a feature to your installation, repair or reinstall Office, or add a feature that is set to install on first use.
