SYMPTOMS

When you start an unattended installation of Windows XP, you may receive the following error message when you use the /copydir switch:
Setup was unable to build the list of files to be copied. The system cannot find the path specified.

MORE INFORMATION

The correct usage for the /copydir switch in Windows XP is slightly different than in Windows 2000.

Example

In this example, assume that the directory to be copied is called "tempfiles".

In Windows 2000, the correct usage is:
/copydir:tempfiles
In Windows XP, the correct usage is:
/copydir:i386\tempfiles
Note: With the /copysource switch, you do not need to specify "i386\" before the directory name.

For more information about unattended installation, refer to the help file, Ref.chm, which is located in the \Support\Tools\Deploy.cab file on the Windows XP CD-ROM.
