When your computer enters Standby or Hibernation mode, it may stop responding (hang). Note that this behavior only occurs after you dock your computer. Also, if you press CTRL+ALT+DELETE, MSGSRV32 is listed as "not responding".
CAUSE
The behavior occurs if the computer has the standard floppy disk controller driver and a universal serial bus (USB) storage device (such as a USB memory stick drive) driver loaded. As part of the standby and hibernate process, a media check command is sent to storage devices by the Msgsrv32 process. The problem in this scenario is that the USB storage device has already been turned off. This causes Msgsrv32 to wait forever for completion of the command, and this causes the computer to hang.
WORKAROUND
To work around this issue, disable the standard floppy disk controller before the standby or hibernate process begins:
