This article provides a step-by-step guide that tells you how to create bulleted lists that use graphical images for bullets in Microsoft Word.
You can add bullets to existing lines of text, or you can automatically create bulleted lists as you type. Any graphical image or picture can be used as a bullet. Picture bullets are often used in documents that are created for the Web.
You can also create a multilevel picture bulleted list that displays list items that are indented at different levels. A multilevel bulleted list is similar to an outline numbered list. Each level in the list can use a different picture bullet.
To add picture bullets to existing text in your document, follow these steps:
Start Word, and then open your document.
Select the list items to which you want to add a picture bullet.
On the Format menu, click Bullets and Numbering, and then click the Bulleted tab.
Note In Microsoft Office Word 2007, click the arrow behind Bullets in the Paragraph group on the Home tab, and then click Define New Bullet.
Use one of the following procedures, as appropriate for the version of Word that you are running:
In Microsoft Word 2000, click Picture, and then click the Pictures tab.
In Microsoft Word 2002 and in Microsoft Office Word 2003, click any bulleted style, and then click Customize. In the Customize Bulleted List dialog box, click Picture.
In Word 2007, click Picture.
In the Picture Bullet dialog box, click the picture bullet that you want, and then click OK.
If you want to import a picture from another program or location, click Import Clips in Word 2000. Click Import in Word 2002, in Word 2003, and in Word 2007.
