An ATI Desktop Component May Cause an Error Message

SYMPTOMS

While you are using an ATI Rage video adapter with Windows XP, you may receive the following error message:
Atiptaxx.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If you view the data that the error report contains, the following error signature information is listed:
App name       App version   Module name   Module version   Offset

CAUSE

There is a known issue with the driver for the ATI Rage video adapter.

RESOLUTION

ATI recommends that you obtain and install driver version 6.13.3279 or later from the following ATI Web site:
