Windows Prompts You to Change Your Password Although No Password Was Configured

After you upgrade to Windows XP Professional, you may receive the following error message: You may receive this message although you have never used a password.

To resolve this problem:

1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click User Accounts.
2. Click your account name, and then click Create a password.
3. In the Type a new password and Type the new password again to confirm boxes, type the password for your account.
4. Click Create a password.
5. Note that this step is optional. If you want to remove the password you just created:
   1. Restart your computer, and then log on to the computer by using the new password.
   2. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click User Accounts.
   3. Click your user account, and then click Remove the password.
