This problem was first corrected in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2. MORE INFORMATIONWindows cannot determine the domain type (Microsoft Windows NT 4.0
or later) for cached logon attempts. By using Windows NT 4.0 as the default (Windows NT 4.0 does not
support domain-based Group Policy), only the local Group Policy is applied; domain-based Group Policy is effectively removed. The hotfix that is described in this article permits policy
processing to be skipped if the user's domain type cannot be determined. This leaves the cached policy settings intact. PropertiesArticle ID: 811062 - Last Review: August 29, 2007 - Revision: 3.2
