Article ID: 814119 - Last Review: October 17, 2005 - Revision: 2.5 FIX: RPC Bug Causes Threads to Stop Responding in ASP/COM+ Applications
This problem affects Microsoft Windows 2000 Service Pack 3
(SP3). On This PageSYMPTOMSASP applications that make cross-process COM calls might be
affected by a bug in the remote procedure call (RPC) that can cause threads to
stop responding ("hang"). Web clients may time out, and the Requests Executing
or Requests Queued performance counters may rise over time. These counters may
never return to zero, even during a period when the Web site is
idle. CAUSEA bug in the RPC runtime can cause local COM calls to stop
responding. This problem occurs only when several local RPC calls are made
quickly from multiple threads, and each thread has a unique set of security
credentials. RESOLUTIONService Pack InformationTo resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft Windows 2000. For additional information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:260910
